Finalist – The Roswell Award

Last week, I received some exciting news…

It was 2am and I couldn’t sleep…
I decided to get up and edit a couple of short stories I’d been working on.

  • One about a boy who can control people with his mind.
  • Another about a virus that wipes out 99 percent of the residents on a secluded island.

You know, the usual stuff.

Anyway, I opened up my emails to find some very exciting news involving aliens and actors.

Dear Alanah,

On behalf of The Roswell Award organizers, I’m excited to congratulate you on being chosen as a Roswell Award finalist for your story, “The King Experience.”

I thought I wouldn’t be hearing about this award for another month so I was super surprised and excited.

But you know what’s even cooler?

The finalists’ stories will be read on stage by celebrity guests at LitFest Pasadena on Saturday, May 19 at 5:30pm. After the readings, the first, second, and third place Roswell Award winners will be announced.

Okay, I thought. Who are these celebrity guests who read out the stories. Are they really celebrities or ‘celebrities.’ (To be honest, either is pretty exciting – my story is going to be read aloud dramatically to an audience!)

They haven’t released the list of narrators for this year, but I looked up last year’s event and was pleasantly surprised.

Now I don’t watch a lot of TV, but even I have heard of Arrow and Star Trek Voyager…

Obviously, I can’t make it to LA but I have my fingers crossed that the event organisers will record it or livestream it so I can share with you all.

Will keep you posted.

Alanah
